Meet our Interns

Bithika Baishya

Field Intern

Bithika brought immense energy and sincerity to the field during her six-month journey with us as field intern. She worked closely with our weavers, conducting surveys that gave us valuable insights into their challenges and aspirations. With her warm and approachable nature, she quickly built trust and meaningful connections, making the weavers feel heard and supported. Her friendly attitude, coupled with a willingness to learn, made her an integral part of the team. Hardworking and committed, she not only contributed to our project goals but also left behind a spirit of collaboration and empathy that continues to inspire us.

Meet the Field Team

Runu Deka

Field Supervisor

Runu is an inspiring example of resilience and determination. With an unwavering focus on uplifting her village and community, she has worked hard to create a better future for her family. While her husband works as a daily wage labourer, Runu’s dedication and contribution through Porisoi have transformed their household economy. Today, she successfully manages household expenses and supports her children’s education independently, reducing the financial burden on her husband. As a Field Coordinator, her strong work ethic and sense of responsibility make her an invaluable part of the team, while her journey highlights the impact of women’s empowerment at the grassroots.

Joymoti Deka

Field Supervisor

Married at a young age and entrusted with household responsibilities early on, Joymoti had little time to pursue her own aspirations. A mother of two from a farmer’s family, she has faced her share of challenges, but her journey with Porisoi has been truly transformative. Today, as a dedicated Field Supervisor, Joymoti plays a vital role in coordinating with our weavers and ensuring smooth operations at the grassroots. Her sensitivity, empathy, and strong sense of responsibility enable her to build deep connections with the artisans, fostering trust and collaboration. Through her work, she has also been able to secure financial stability for her family and is proudly supporting her daughter’s higher education. Joymoti’s story reflects resilience, growth, and the power of empowerment through sustainable livelihoods.
